A Note from the Patrol Director, Stu Gillard:

The Delaware Valley Ski Patrol has produced an amazing amount of accomplishments since our last spring meeting.  All patrollers have completed all OEC, CPR, LIFT
EVAC, and Nordic requirements for the upcoming season.  Dave Mooney did his usual outstanding job conducting the OEC class for 2011, graduating eight new patrollers for the trail and mountain.  DVSP has grown by 6 patrollers, looking forward to their Nordic certification this season.  Jim Paradee has managed our treasury soundly, keeping us financially strong. vAs soon as the snow turns on (a bonus, but not required) we've got plenty action waiting for us on the mountain and trail.

There is just one requirement for all Nordic Patrollers left to complete: The Volunteer in the Park Form needs to be filled out and emailed, faxed, scanned and emailed back to me.  All NJ State Parks need to have this information on file, one form for each state park......so one for Washington Crossing Park State Park, one for the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park, and one for High Point. If you attended the High Point Nordic refresher, you should have filled out that form for that park, then and there.  The form is attached, your best answers focus on Ski Patrol, Bike Patrol and what we do, safety and first aid.  Available time will be dependent on snow conditions.

Mail to Stu Gillard 49 Hampshire Drive, Plainsboro, NJ  08536 or scan and email gillard@aol.com.

Our Patrol is well established and growing.  I have assembled a By-Laws Committee (Roger Copt, Joe Manna and Jim Paradee) and By-Laws for the Delaware Valley Ski Patrol are currently being drafted.  You'll receive a copy for comment and questions by the end of January.  The committee will take all comments under consideration and will answer all questions.  Once the document is finalized, it will be put to a vote to adopt the new By-Laws (at our spring meeting).  The By-Laws spell out the basic organization of the patrol, the elected officer positions, responsibilities and basic operations.  They are very simple and are similar to By-Laws successfully being used by other Ski Patrols.  Once adopted, a nominations committee will be assembled to hold elections at the fall meeting.  I expect the offices will be: Patrol Representative (Director), Treasurer, Secretary.

All NSP Cards have been mailed to your address on file in your NSP profile.  In your NSP profile and on your NSP Card are your patroller status for your primary patrol and secondary patrol (if you have one).  Your secondary affiliation is your responsibility to; keep your information current and meet all of that patrols requirements.  If your Secondary status on your NSP card (lower left hand corner) is not what you expect, you need to contact that patrol to make adjustments to your profile.

MEMBERSHIP DUES (2011-2012 DVSP Membership):

Dues will be collected at the annual DVSP OEC Refresher on October 2, 2011.  Any member who will not be attending the DVSP refresher should contact Jim Paradee at 609-883-3051 or sampatjim@verizon.net.  Please notify the DVSP of any changes, i.e. membership status, address, phone number, etc., in writing.  Any current DVSP member who does not wish to continue his/her membership should notify the DVSP of their decision, so you won't be pursued for the dues.
